Introduced from England in the late 1800's these "Golden jewels of the barn yard" are large stately birds with quiet temperaments. Buff Orpingtons great setters and make some of the best mothers of any breed. Their heavy, loosely feathered plumage make them fantastic winter layers producing plenty of beautiful brown eggs even in very cold weather. "Big Buffs" as they are sometimes called have been one of our most popular varieties for years.
